Make Health A Habit Signature Program

Welcome to Project Walking Fete! This program has everything you’ll need to get started on your journey to good health. The different components make it easy for everyone to participate.

National Walk-A-Thon
The Walk-A-Thon gives chapters an opportunity to not only raise money for local programs, but it also promotes walking as a healthy pastime. The ultimate goal is to promote physical activity and educate our communities about the importance of regular physical activity in improving overall health and wellness. Chapters invite schools, churches, local businesses, other community organizations, and citizens to participate in the Walk-A-Thon. Since 1996 the National Walk-A-Thon usually takes place on the last Saturday of September, or on a more convenient date before the end of the year.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
There are two ways to become a millionaire:

  • Challenge – Walk One Million Miles – Links members pledge to collectively walk one million miles.
  • Challenge – Million Pound Weight Loss – Links members pledge to collectively lose one million pounds.

The ultimate goal is for chapters to organize healthy living programs and to collaborate with other community agencies to develop healthy habits for life. For more information about how to implement these activities, visit www.linksinc.org., Member Documents.

Poster Art Contest
This national Poster Art Contest is designed to encourage children to focus on the benefits of good nutrition, healthy living, and physical activity. The Contest theme for 2009-2010 is STEP UP! For more information about contest rules and implementation, log on to www.linksinc.org, Member Documents.
