The Links Incorporated and Habitat for Humanity join together to help make affordable housing possible

ATLANTA (Aug. 28, 2009) . During the Annual Governance Meeting of The Links Incorporated, Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, and The Links Incorporated national President Dr. Gwendolyn Lee will participate in a joint announcement of a partnership between the two organizations.

The Links Incorporated and Habitat for Humanity International will work together to assist those living without decent and affordable shelter in the United States and certain regions in Africa and the Caribbean.

The three year program partnership called “Homes without Borders” will set the groundwork for Habitat for Humanity affiliates and chapters of The Links Incorporated to work together. Chapters of The Links Incorporated will volunteer, raise awareness about the need for affordable housing and provide resources including direct financial support.

“We are grateful to The Links Incorporated for their commitment to work with Habitat for Humanity to make affordable housing possible for more families,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “The support of The Links Incorporated national office and local chapters will help to improve communities.”

“Members of The Links Incorporated contribute more than 500,000 documented hours of community service annually to strengthen their communities and enhance the nation,” said National President Dr. Gwendolyn Lee. “By joining with Habitat for Humanity we continue to make the name ‘Links’ synonymous with not only a chain of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful service”.

Other partnership efforts undertaken by The Links Incorporated have included working with Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the fight against breast cancer and with the Heart Truth national campaign to increase women’s awareness of heart disease and its dangers. They also partner with the National Cares Mentoring Movement to address the critical issues that prevent youth from reaching their full potential.
