    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SIGMA PI PHI FRATERNITY, INC. AND THE LINKS, INCORPORATED
COLLABORATE TO GET OUT THE VOTE!

On November 6, we will elect the next President of the United States. The involvement of every eligible citizen is vital to the electoral process and determining the future of our nation. Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and The Links, Incorporated are proud to harness their collective strengths and encourage our members to actively participate in voter activities, increase awareness of issues impacting our society today, and empower our communities to vote in all of the 2012 elections.

As advocates for the betterment of our community, we accept our civic duty to ensure that everyone has the opportunity and information to be fully engaged in and educated about their right to vote. We press upon our members to extend their support by reaching out to increase voter participation, particularly among historically underrepresented constituencies—including low-income Americans, women, persons of color, and young voters of color.

Our collective efforts should be directed in a purposeful way to empower and encourage African American voters; newly registered voters; and eligible voters under the age of 30; and to bring older or discouraged voters back to the polls. Every citizen must exercise his or her fundamental American right to vote.

The 2012 election will significantly impact lives throughout every segment of our population. The quality of life of all Americans will depend on the attention and response to critical societal issues targeted by the new administration. We urge our members to EDUCATE, MOTIVATE and ADVOCATE!

    How can YOU get involved?

    • Encourage friends and family members to REGISTER TO VOTE.
Visit http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/Voting/Register.shtml for voter registration deadlines, which vary by state.
    • Host a DEBATE PARTY to get people engaged in the process.
    • HOST A FORUM to hear from and educate the community about the voting process, voter intimidation and voter suppression.
    • Encourage community members to become ADVOCATES in their communities by motivating them to host voter-registration drives and small group VOTER EDUCATION SEMINARS
    • Volunteer to be an ELECTION DAY OBSERVER or POLL WORKER. Contact your local election office for eligibility requirements.
    • Provide transportation for voters to get to the polls.
    • Encourage the use of SOCIAL MEDIA TO SPREAD OUR MESSAGE.

Your vote is your voice. Make your voice be heard on November 6, 2012!
